On this episode, the Zombie Grrlz recorded their most political cast to date… which, if you’ve been listening along, you know is really saying something. But then, how could we not when we are breaking down the entire Purge movie franchise? Starting with The Purge, followed by The Purge: Anarchy, The Purge 3: Election Year, and ending with The First Purge… wait a minute. Hmm, I think I may have uncovered a flaw in the movies’ naming system. Ah well, what they didn’t get wrong with these movies is how they packaged an unflinching and clever takedown of the various systems of oppression that are sadly very relevant to culture today — and getting more so every day — into what appear on the surface to be exploitation popcorn munchers. Also, Frank Grillo, mmmm… so dreamy.

We also geek out over Us and Doom Patrol, Matilda is introduced to the female Gremlin for the first time ever, and we make our plans for Purge night and break down our very own personal Purge playlists.
